Medicare and private insurance companies cover music
therapy services on a case-by-case basis. For school-age
children with special needs, music therapy is considered a
related service and is written into the Individual Education Plan
when deemed necessary by the IEP team. Sometimes music
therapy services are funded through state or county funding
(depending upon eligibility), grants or private pay.
